After an 8 hour drive in the bank holiday traffic the team eventually
arrived at Croft in North Yorkshire. This was a circuit Kelly and Bob
were not looking forward to due to the slight handling gremlins that
have plagued the team so far this season. This showed in qualifying when
Kelly failed to put his car on the front row for the first time this
year and took up 4th position on the grid with team mate Robert
Humphreys only 4 rows behind.
Kelly held his 4th position from the start and after trying to gain
third position from the reigning champion the suspension was knocked out
of alignment and 4th position was the best he was going to get. Team
mate Robert was steadily making his way up the order and eventually
finished 12th after starting 14th.
All in all not a bad weekend with Kelly still maintaining 2nd in the
championship and Robert surviving the midfield battles and coming out
unscathed. It was nice to see some of our Northern friends although it
is difficult to understand there accents especially when they have had a
drink or two but a polite nod and a smile seemed to keep them happy. (I
think the guys name was Les?) he seemed to know us anyway).
It's off to Castle Combe next a favourite of the team where more
silverware will be collected no doubt and a chance to see some of our
friends from the valley's boyo. Here are a few pictures of the team but
we cannot tell you who is who for legal reasons. |
